Getting fat and unhealthy from sitting on our butts all day and staring into monitor screens.
Yes, you heard that right.
It’s not about more traffic, higher quality links or better conversions. It’s a problem of being too comfortable in our desks and chairs, feasting on virtual worlds and junk food. It’s a problem of not getting enough exercise.
If you don’t believe me, look around. Some of the top people in the internet marketing world are pudgy and pasty with big dark bags under their eyes. They’re an incomplete picture of wealth.
Is it really worth all that money and fame if you can’t even walk half a mile without gasping for air? (By the way, this post was removed, but John Chow—bless his heart—is panting on his way to his mailbox 1/4 mile up the street.)
I exercise but I’ve still got a ways to go. I’m lucky enough to have a wife that gets me up at 5am Monday through Friday without fail for a one hour run outside before the kids wake up. I do yoga occasionally and on weekends I go surfing. When we lived in Alaska, I ran in below zero temperatures.
Here’s an internet marketer with the right idea—a treadmill workstation! She gifts her body the same care and attention as her websites.
So how do you stay healthy?

Now that I’m behind a desk almost full-time, I’m learning this lesson the hard way! One of the few things I miss about teaching is the near-constant activity. It’s time to get back to my yoga routine…thanks for the reminder! 🙂

Hi Cynthia — I’m learning the hard way, too. My butt is always hurting. Yoga is awesome — hope to see you in the class!
